HP model: G62-a37SO, purchased in Denmark Running Windows 7 (x64) Ultimate HP Wireless Assistant claims that the Wireless LAN Adapter is disabled in 'device manager' and cannot be enabled fro mthe 'Assistant' Opening Device Manager shows no LAN adapter at all (dis- or enabled) How do I move forward from here (reason for trouble: I had to reinstall Windows 7 and download a number of drivers to get the machine up and running smoothly. The only device I can't get at is the Wireless LAN Adapter. I would really appreciate a bit of help Kind regards Torben.

That is what you need to post here. Once you have done that, lots of us here have the resources to identify the manufacturer and model that is installed.
Then yo can download it from the HP website. I don't recommend trying all of the different drivers at the website to see which one works. Print out page 47,48 an 49. Opening your notebook up to get to the module is not a difficult task if you have any technical skill at all. It is just as it is detailed in the manual. There are only two screws to remove and two wires(antenna) connected to the module with a type of connector clip.
You will need a jewelers philips screwdriver to do this and a place or plastic bag to put the two screws in. If you can see the manufacturer's name and model number without removing it once your have the access door then don't remove the antenna connectors nor remove the module. Write down everything that you see on the module and post it here.
You can also have this done at a laptop repair shop for a low price as well. Best regards, erico.
