DeployEverything HP Driver Download Automation Tool Following on from the release of the Dell Driver Automation Tool in January, I had a lot of requests for a version for other manufacturers including HP and Lenovo. So here is a heavily modified version of the tool for HP hardware. When updating the tool I changed a lot of the functions of the GUI, partly due to the fact that HP driver packages are bundled into 7×5 Gx formats but also due to the fact that I had no HP hardware to pull down using an the previous SCCM query. The script works by downloading the HP SCCM Driver Cabinet, extracting the XML, reading in the XML and doing some other bits in the background to display the full list of HP driver packages in an easy to read format. For instance in your example you have given the EliteDesk 705G1 which indeed does have drivers available from. If however you look at a list of available SCCM package drivers for the same model on, you will see that a driver package for Windows 10 only exists for the G2 and G3 of that model range. Unfortunately I have had this personally too in the past whereby a particular range of laptop only provided driver packages in a later generation, in that instance it is really up to you browsing the vendors site to download manual lists of drivers or use an OEM tool to download drivers directly from sections of their website. I have done this and it works great with one major caveat: make sure that you install.Net Framework 3.5 before running this as some Softpaqs from HP require it (actually, I think it's the ATI drivers in the softpaqs). I like the SSM method because it installs more than just the drivers including BIOS updates, driver applications, and other utilities. It doesn't completely eliminate driver management because you still may need NIC/storage drivers for your boot images or for Windows itself. Coppied all the softpaqs in the update folder. Run SSM and follow the instruction. CVA files are created due to running SSM in the update folder. From a client machine I want to test if it works manually first. So I run the command as follows: /A It installs all the drivers on the client machines nicely. Now I created a batch file named ssm.bat and put the command in the bat file as follows: /A. So, running bat file from a client machine also installs the drivers silently.
Now I want to do this execution of bat file from SCCM. I am stuck here. Not sure how to execute this batch file using task sequence. I have a Build and capture task Sequence with the following steps: Restart in Windows PE, Partition Disk 0, Apply Operating System, Apply Windows Settings, Setup Windows and Configuration, Install Updates. The Task Sequence works.
Is it possible to add a 'Run Command Line' Step to run the batch file? I tried to add it but TS fails at this step.

I added the Command Line Step after 'Install Updates' Step. SDM is the download manager and will get you want you want.
SSM installs drivers and softpaqs that SDM downloads and has advantages if you you want to go that route - specifically, you never have to create individual driver packages or i port the drivers into ConfigMgr and it will install other hardware specific software and updates. I do have this set up as a package in SCCM 2012. The setup is that in the properties I do not have the data source set. The little check box is cleared on the 'This package contains source files' In the Program I have it set as a command line.

So then in the task sequence I have a Install Package Sequence that selects the program, after that I have a Restart Computer task. Seems to work, more or less. I have run into an occasional drive that doesn't behave right, but if you have a central log file you should be able to go into that logging location and find the culprit. As far as.net 3.5, I haven't set it, at least this is the first thread that I have seen it.
I may look into adding that into my sequences for HP Machines. I know that I have had to monkey with.net for Lenovo Updater and Thin Installer.

Like most others I am also getting errors when runngin through a TS, it would appear permissions related, and maybe the.net commands are needed. I am interested on what server Share permissions you have setup, for the share?
